Hi G10 users. Just wanted to inform that there will be a G10 CHDK. I am in the testing team for this, and i can happily say that the first beta works. Doesn't really do anything, just boots the CHDK, and you can run the test script. But that something to start with.

For now there are 3 firmware versions in testing, 1.02A, 1.03B and 1.04A. Most people, including myself have 1.02A.

This wouldn't be possible really without waterwingz, the developer, who is doing all this. Don't know if he is active here, but you can go to CHDK forums for more info. Thanks dude.

I'll keep you informed, or you can check the CHDK forum for yourself.

That picture of a G10 looks familiar. For what its worth, CHDK for the G10 is now in full release - beta testing completed.

Anybody got a good specific link -- as to Why be interested in CHDK?
For example...
extending the shutter speed range,
time lapse,
automating a sequence of shots, ...

I have a G9 and have been interested in CHDK initially because somehow Canon took away any Remote Shutter control for this model. Go figure!

Thanks re link.

It seems Canon scrambled various features of the G-series over recent years (e.g., G9 does not sport a remote port, but it does preserve Interval Shooting).

I've been trying to install this for an hour or so now, in the same manner which I did with my 400D.

For some reason my G10 just refuses to recognise that there is a new firmware version on the SD card - Has anyone else experienced this, or have an idea how to fix it?

What size is the SD card? If it's 4GB or larger you'll need to create a small FAT partition. See more HERE (external link)
