I'm pretty new to photography, so please be gentle. I would love C&C on these though as I feel that the best way to get better is to know what you're doing wrong. Well that, and lots of practice. All of these were shot with my Rebel (300D) and a 75-300. Please excuse the noise, I forgot to change my ISO from 800.

Pretty good shots. The third one looks just a bit blown out on the whites, but otherwise not too bad. What mode where you shooting in?

White balance is off on the tiger; it looks a bit green. Love the giraffe :)

Alright, I have a question about that. The water in the tiger exhibit was green, giving an awful reflection onto everything. Is there anything I can do to correct the white balance before the shot, or is that something that needs to be done in post processing?

Were you using AWB? If so, try using one of the presets for the lighting condition (Sunny, in this case). That should *help*, anyway; otherwise, you're correcting in PP.

I was using the sunny AWB for these. Guess I need to get better at PP. Thanks for your response.

Spot meter the tiger and set exposure based off getting him right - he is the subject.

In raw mode you can, not in jpeg. Try to play with color temp in LR3. Also, be sure to focus on the eyes and use optima f stop and shutter speed for best resolution.
Nice pics.
