Tamrac 3536 bag owners (dimensions question)

The Tamrac 3536 allows you to store flash and second lens only up to under the divider holding the body up (as opposed to the 3537 which is wider and allows the lens to go up next to the camera).

How high exactly can the side things in the 3536 be if the body on top is a 40D? It says small flash but people seemed to be able to fit a real flash. Will a Metz 58 or a Canon 580 fit?
