Words cannot express the victory dance I unleashed upon the sands of Melbourne Beach when I saw this on the LCD of my 5D.

Cooler version, about 3200k

Few more of these later, been a long day between the shuttle landing and this. I'm running on vapor. Might do another crop on the strike itself. I've never really gotten a good lightning strike so honestly I've never had to process one, but I'm open to suggestions. All of this just because I was going to blaze some hookah with some of my buds.

Congratulations on a great capture! It's refreshing to see a lightning capture that is also a good photo with interesting elements aside from the mere capture of electricity.

Of the three versions of the same photo you posted, I prefer the first two; the colorful shore provides some grounding solidity to an otherwise fluid photo. I can't decide whether I prefer a red or blue sky though; both seem appropriate. On the one hand I like the complimentary colors in #2, but the monochromatic scheme of #1 is rich and appealing as well.

I like the color temperature of the light on the sand in #2 but I like the color temp of the lightning in #1. The lights near the beach are 2800k, the lightning is obviously higher. Maybe I'll photoshop them together or something. Either way I was pretty damn happy about nailing the shot.

Braved the mosquitoes tonight for these bad boys.

Storm season in Florida is finally not sucking anymore. But I am since in my haste to avoid donating blood I left the ISO at 400 like a tard. I could literally feel them hitting my arm while I swung randomly through the air.

But I did rig an 8' shutter cord through the window of my car, rolled up the window and managed to avoid certain death. Every time I come to this location I think of the flying goblins from the Wizard of Oz.

Like the first picture and the two first settings the most. But the first setting on the first picture is my favorite

Great stuff. Thickest skeeters I've ever been engulfed by were at Tortoise Island in Brevard County.

They are all stunning! Few are able to capture the great detail in the clouds that you got with these. Thanks for sharing your settings. I may have to see if I can do better next time a storm rolls through here. At least we don't really have mosquitos... ;-)a
