Tri[pod and image stablisation on or off?

Hi, dont know if this should be in here or lenses !!! however im sure a nice kind mod will move it if neccesary
i have just bought a monopod to go with my 100-400L lens , what i need to know is .. do i switch off the IS if not do i need to use zone 2 on the IS or zone 1, i know on a tripod you need to turn off The IS but a little unsure with a monopod as i suspect there is still a small amount of movement

The 2 setting is for panning horizontally, use it if you're shooting action on a playing field, for example.

Give it a try on/off/1 & 2 - it should be easy to see which setting works for you. I leave mine off.

Shut IS off on a tripod (with the older IS systems such as the 100-400L) and leave IS on when using a monopod (with any IS system). Mode "1" is when you are not moving your camera. Mode "2" is for panning.
