New York Photography Market....

For anyone in the know.....what is the New York city photography market like? I was possibly considering moving to New York for personal reasons and that would mean re-locating my business which would basically mean starting over from scratch. I would love to hear from others if the New York market is robust or if it's just a bust when it comes to portrait/event photography.

Maybe you can look up on various studio websites and to check out their pricing...to get the feel? I am not in the network. Here is one of the studios near where I live. It is inside the mall. I say the business is OK. The works aren't spectacular but the owner managed to employ couple of staff and the place is busy enough.

Around near Adorama, there are a handful of studios there too. I have never been to them.

I am sure there are high end studios geared towards a niche market. I would assume these studios would not have a store front. I would assume they would only use it for the shoot and have different ways to market themselves. Direct client contacts or customer referrals???
