Female Splendid Fairy Wren
7D, 400mm f/5.6L, 1/200 f/5.6, ISO400 Tripod.

Shot this on the way home from a trip down south. The male, which wasn't in full plumage yet, hardly poked his head out of the bushes. Still there will be a next time, hopefully he will be in full colour by the.

This is perhaps one of my top wren shots.

Thanks all, I love this shot.

Matt, no there was no fill flash here at all. This was taken on a very cloudy day, hence the mid level ISO and low shutter speed. I think I am going to shoot on cloudy days again as I do know the diffused light can produce great results.

WOW! Can't say enough about this one - did you have to go up a 1/3 or 2?

Thanks for enjoying the image and your query.

Sorry, but I dont understand y our question: "did you have to go up a 1/3 or 2?"

The EXIF data is intact.
