My wife's friend was over the other day and I asked if i could take a few pics.. so i broke out my new to me 60D with my nifty-fifty and went to town. Had some fun and came out with a few good ones. I am aware that some are slightly OOF, still working on that, but the softer ones worked nice for some B&W. I got done with them and started going through them when I realized that i had pretty much all head shots... well, now i know to mix it up a little more. As always, CC is welcome and appreciated. Thanks.

I really dig the b&w's. You should try some of those in sepia, or the vintage creamy look that is all the rage.

I myself enjoy the B&W's as well. I really like shooting in the natural light as well. I am really enjoying the 50mm. Makes me was to get the Sigma 30mm 1.4. What is the vintage creamy look that is all the rage? I am not familiar with it.

Nice shots. I don't think they look out of focus, maybe the first one, but the rest just look soft. I know my 50mm isn't that sharp at 1.8, so maybe bump it up to 2.8 next time. That should yield sharper pictures....

I like #3 as well. I never thought of them just being soft because of the lens being just about wide open. I figured the little guys was just moving too much. I was trying to keep a faster SS cause of that. I guess I shouldn't be afraid to use slightly higher ISO's. I plan on upgrading to a 50 1.4 soon, and then a sigma 30 1.4. I really dig these primes..
