Thanks, Chief! He is doing just great. This weekend will probably be a car-seat test. Makes sure he doesn't have any breathing issues sitting in a car seat for an hour in the NICU. Almost ready for home!

'lo everyone. Just a pop in.
Have to say Harm, he's a keeper! Congrats!
Just a quick question to the folks I can trust-
need a recommendation for a wide-angle zoom in the 800-1000 dollar range. I know that isn't much to work with, but that's the budget. Looking at the EF 17-40 f/4L USM but that won't be so hot for low light. standard zoom may be ok, too .I'd hope it to be popular enough to resell in case the recipient doesn't prefer it.
anyone have suggestions?

Hugs to all my old friends

Wu!! How great seeing you here!

I think the 17-40 is an excellent choice. Okay, it's not f/2.8, but nor is it $1,600 like the 16-35L. If you're on a budget (aren't we all?), you can probably justify the few shots you'll miss due to low light.

I don't think you can do better than the 17-40. Not if you are concerned about re-sell.
I liked my 17-40 better than my 16-35II. I know it's not 2.8 but of the canon options, that was my favorite. Tamron makes an inexpensive 17-50 2.8 which has nice iq but it hunts terrible in low light.

Hi Wu! Miss seeing you about more . . .
I forget what camera you'll be using this on. If it's a crop, maybe the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 VC (their IS) or Sigma's 17-50 2.8 OS?

I guess the Docs have confirmed it. This weekend Alexander comes home. Could have been tomorrow but he needs a round of shots etc.
