nighters, Chief.

Fireworks are fun until someone gets hurt. I stay far away from them as I got burned in several areas of my body once. And wasn't even from me playing with them. Was my neighbors across street. Misfired and hit me.:(

Fireworks are one of those things that need to be treated with respect and used in a very specific manner. Unfortunately people think they are toys. I really enjoy them and the science mixed with art that goes into producing them. Dumb people ruin it for the rest of us who enjoy them. To set off the things we played with tonight we drove out to a remote corn field near our horses that is set deep in the park land up there so there are no people or occupied dwellings near by.

Happy New Year, Puddles.

The prime rib thing is uncanny. BTW, the Herbs de Provence is very nice. It doesn't impart a lot of taste, but makes an smell amazing while it cooks. Also, I'm not sure this method would work on other cuts of meat. Probably not.

A lady I used to work with had a similar bizarre method of cooking rib that involved a heavily salted mustard paste that covered the meat, baked, then pulled out of the oven after a predetermined time period. She said that you had to literally chip the mustard off of the meat before serving but that the roast was to die for.

She had me until the chipping part. The mental image was too much for me....

I've seen similar things. The salt crust generally has to be attacked with a hammer and chisel, but the result looks pretty good. I've also seen a whole fish baked that way. In that case, you keep the salt and throw away the fish.

Just made some guacamole. It turned out really well .

I saw a pioneer woman tv episode with the salt crust thing, she braised the meat on all sides first, the. Put on a hugely thick salt (and other things) crust before cooking in a very hot oven.

Bookmarked, thanks for the link. Looks pretty easy.

Will be taking Aiden to his parents in a few short hours. These visits go way to fast. On a good side, the kids can now SKYPE so we are going to try to make weekly calls.:D The new baby is 30 days away unless he decides to come sooner.
