The news from a village in the UK is not good. In a incident last night a man shot 3 women in his house before shooting himself. He did this with a shotgun. The news has been full of it today but the angle they are coming from is not that of a family tragedy where 3 innocent victims were killed, one injured and a very disturbed gunman turned the gun on himself.

The news is just full of the fact that the gunman owned 3 shotguns and 3 section 1 firearms legally.

The anti gun ownership lobby is getting fully wound up and ready to go.

Hi guys!!! I have a question I hope someone can help me with.

Somehow one of my settings got changed when importing photos. When I want to import photos I plug in my card reader> Click on file in LR> click on import photos> choose where I want them to go and done.

Now, here is the problem... photos turn up fine in LR... but, if I go to my computer> H:drive (where I keep my photos on an external)> LR photos> month that I want> they are all there, just that they are a psd. So, if I want to open just one photo it opens it in Photoshop Elements because it's a psd. I don't want them to import and turn into psd's!!!!! And I don't know how it managed to get changed to that. Under file type it says they are dng which is what I want. But they are also psd's which will only open in elements. I hope I made a little bit of sense explaining.

At the top of the import screen there are a couple of choices. You've inadvertently chosen import as psd (can't remember the exact verbage). Just click on another option (dng?) and the imports will remember that choice until you hit another one.

Make sense? If you need more specifics, I can go into LR and get the exact language.

DNG is the selected one. This is what I see when I go into my external hard drive and select a folder. Maybe it's always been like this and I just didn't notice. I might just be losing my mind! But I didn't think that it use to have the little blue camera thingy with psd in the corner. I dunno.

I think you might just have photoshop as your automatic 'open with this' program? but I'm not sure.

Well, your choices when importing are Copy as DNG (as you did here), Copy, Move or Add. Look at previous imports on your XHD and see if they are dng files. If they are, you've probably just never noticed this or as Crissa said vvv here you might have just changed your default opening program for dng files.
