A friend of mine who has just come out of hospital after having quadruple bypass surgery sent me this, it made me smile :-)

---------------

A woman called a local hospital --

"Hello. Could you connect me to the person who gives information about patients? I'd like to find out if a patient is getting better, doing as expected, or getting worse."

The voice on the other end said "What is the patient's name and room number?"

"Sarah Finkel, Room 302."

"I'll connect you to the nursing station".

"Third floor nursing station. How can I help you?"

"I'd like to know the condition of Sarah Finkel in Room 302."

"Just a moment. Let me look at her records. Mrs. Finkel is very well. In fact she had two full meals, her blood pressure is fine. She is to be taken off the heart monitor in a couple of hours, and if she continues this improvement, Dr Cohen is going to send her home on Tuesday."

The woman said "What a relief. Oh, that's fantastic. That's wonderful news."

The nurse said, "From your enthusiasm, I take it, you are a close family member, or are you a very close friend?"

"Neither. I'm Sarah Finkel in Room 302. Nobody tells me anything in here"............

Unfortunately, where I work, that nurse would then be fired. You don't give out patient information to anybody...

Anyone have any recommendation for knives in the kitchen? We need some new ones to cut things up...

One of my brothers bought a couple Ikea knives. The blades are damascus folded steel, and should last a good long time with proper care. What I don't like about them was how the handles are made and attached. I did not find them very comfy. But, bang for the buck, they are quite good.

I just went to the Ikea site, and they are the Slitbar knives.

Yes, I am not a huge fan of the handle, but they are the sharpest knives I own and I spent less than 10 bux on each one!! lol.

I find they take an edge better than Henckels. They are not inexpensive but last a life time and feel soooo nice to work with. That said there are lots of knives, maybe even the ones Crissa mentioned, that are very utilitarian, take a razor sharp edge, and don't matter if you have to replace them for a lot less money. Look at the kitchen supply places for professional kitchens. They often have really good but inexpensive work knives. You will often see fish mongers using that kind of knife. They usually have ugly handles but work really well.
