Coffee? Black, no sugar.

Tea? No milk or sugar?

Milk? No tea or coffee.

Sugar? On cereal.

Guess that just about sums it up.

GMAE, folks. I had a good night. Lois seems to be improving, but still feels fatigued and sore. That will last a couple more days. I haven't heard from BIL yet.

Things are gradually returning to normal out here. Thanks for all your good wishes.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

I get excited by the strangest things but top of the list at the moment is that on 30th January 2012 Leonard Cohen releases his first new songs since 2004, the album is called "Old Ideas" you can get a preview of one of the tracks in the New Yorker article linked below.

http://www.newyorker.com …-going-home-new-song.html (external link)

Thanks for the link Neil. I'm looking forward to getting the album.

Waiting for a new coffee machine to arrive. A Delonghi Magnifica, one of the cheaper models of the species.

I loved the Gaggia, but it was completely manual and a bit of a faff to use & clean. I'm getting lazy in my old age and a one touch bean to cup sounds good to me.

I have the Magnifica. I love it.

Pah. Coffee machine has turned up, nice and new and spangly.

But, it doesn't work. It just sits there and demand that I fill up it's already full water reservior.

Hmmm. Never had that happen. Sometimes it says add coffee when it's already got coffee in it. I just turn it off and it's fine when I turn it back on.

I have one of the cheaper bean-to-cup models. I guess that something's been messed up in the journey. Or I just got sent a duff machine.

Wow!! It's hard to get my mind around a coffee maker that costs more than a side-by-side refrigerator, but obviously they're worth it to those of you who love your coffee 'just so.' I still haven't graduated past the Keurig one-cup brewing method, which in the long seems to serve a decent cup of coffee in a matter of a minute or so whenever I want it (which is usually only once a day).

I admire your devotion and willingness to go to such lengths. I do appreciate a good cup of coffee, and recognize that my daily cup of 'Nantucket Blend' is hardly exceptional, but I haven't the patience or resources to pursue that 'perfect' cup.

Good luck with your machine, Pete. I hope it's easily resolved.

hmmm...I don't know if I know what you are talking about. do you have a link? Mine was expensive (to me anyway) lol BUT I got it for cheap. One of the Boring boys' sisters worked at starbucks so there was a 50% off on the machine & then an employee discount. He bought it but they never used it so I bought it from them, brand new. It's been running now for 4o or 5 years. love it.

Can you exchange yours?

Coffee is a hobby to me as well as a drink. I have all sorts of methods of preparing it, from an Egyptian Ibrik to a Presso (Italaian hand espresso pump), mokah pot, French press & my Magnifica as well as a regular coffee pot. lol

We don't drink coffee much at home, I usually drink it at work, or whilst out. So for Christmas Becca bought a bag of coffee, a lovely Dunkin donuts blend. So on Christmas Day she said let me make you a cup of coffee, three minutes later I hear lots of banging and a damit you're getting coffee. Seems she purchased whole bean, and we don't have a coffee grinder. I'll just say it was a tad on the weak side.

Gotta love her.

My favourite tea is the Chai you get from the street sellers in india, you get it in a paper or plastic cup about the size of a shot glass and it costs the equivalent of about 2 Pence a hit.

Not sure what the exact make up is and it does change from place to place but they all seem to have cardamom and ginger in them. And way too much sugar. In most of india they boil half and half water and milk (often buffalo) with the tea sugar and spices in from cold and then serve it once it has boiled. In the Punjab (Where I guess Harm's people hail from) the process is the same but often they make it with just milk, no water and that is way too rich for me.

Okay I am guessing that's what the concoctions over her are based on. I never understood how Americans took that little glass of simple tea and came up with some exotic mix. Obviously other people use the word Chai. Interesting stuff.

Even to the uninitiated, it's obvious good coffee requires more than beans, a grinder, and hot water. I admire your devotion to your hobby, and hope someday to drink a cup of your handiwork.

I do. The woman is obviously a saint.

I have two coffee grinders. One of these:

And an inexpensive Krups grinder that I use for spices.

Ok, Chet (formerly known as FuryMe)

On this:

A Nikon with a Canon strap? Isn't that like sacrilegious or something?

S.Horton wrote in post #13714001 (external link)
It burst into flames after that photo was taken. (I laughed hard when he pulled it out -- he owns a gozillion dollars of Canon, and a bit of Nikon)

Chet wrote in post #13714009 (external link)
So a mod with a Nikon and a scorched/bandaged appendage?

S.Horton wrote in post #13714045 (external link)
Chet - Let's move the chatter to the TPBM chat thread. Or, Chet thread, in this case.

...........

That is a MOD. I doubt many here would know who that is. Some will.... I think HE would. But, he doesn't hang around TPBM, as far as I know.
