hello canon users,

You are in the right place, and welcome!
Post plenty of pictures, get an idea of what threads suit your style or what you want ro learn, and don't be afraid to ask questions.

Take a few minutes to learn the rules and join in....and take up the challenge.

You will see a lot of equipment threads....and a lot of opinions! Remember though, photography is about the picture, not the gear. You can do very well with that 500D.

Above all, study the work of others...there are many very good photographers here, and there's a fair bit of pretty ordinary stuff as well...(we all have the odd bad day!)

Ah, you've seen my work. :)

Another aspect of digital photography is processing your pictures on the computer. Hopefully, you've received the software that originally came with your camera. If so, experiment with "tweaking" (brightness, contrast, color saturation, sharpness) your photos using Digital Photo Professional.

Start shooting, experiencing with different mode and learn how your camera does in different situations...
