I would be a good idea to have stickies for the bodies themselves, where specs for them are listed, and then have mods (I know it might increase the workload) to close those comparison threads.

I know they have specifications on the net, but some of them seem inaccurate if not very well formatted

Unless and until we can finally beat it into everyone's heads that the magic isn't in the gear, there will always be those who feel like they under bought and will seek solace by either:

A) Asking to see their gear compared to what they think they actually should have bought.
B) Making their own WAGs on why theirs is better / worse than X, Y or Z.

With regards to comparing...I feel they shouldnt be compared since they compliment each other. One being APS-C and the other a Full Framer...One is an apple and the other a orange and everyone knows you cant compare apples to oranges... Jusy my opinion

I agree completely. I'm so tired of those threads ...

Sweet - but I think that one has been around about 18-20 years :-)

Yeah, but it looks expensive. While the initial purchase might be reasonable, the maintenance of it over the years could break the bank.

... will we finally see the last of the 7D Vs. 5DII threads?

I mean I know we will be forced to wade through another few thousand threads comparing the new bodies, but here it is all this time gone by and daily we still see 7D Vs. 5D II threads.

It's the only head to head in history that seems to totally eclipse the Canon created when they launched the 24-15mm f/4L IS !!!

No, then the 5DMIV threads will start. I should start one now, I'm tired of these MIII threads.

Congratulations you have new bodies, they are just compacts. Canon has once again done exactly what everyone was expecting and hoping for. When new dSLRs come out, it will be the same thing as usual.

Expecting? Maybe.

Hoping for? Doubtful.

I'm sure most people were HOPING FOR the announcement of a new 1D/1Ds and/or at least a new 5D MkIII body.

Here is an idea. Why not make a dedicated VS section on the forum? Then you can ignore them all at once :)

5D2 autofocus is crap. I am TIRED TIRED TIRED of only being able to use the center point for everything. Yes, everything. The outer points are extremely unreliable and won't even lock focus in moderately low light. It is nearly impossible to make a decent composition when the subjects are moving.
