I was messing around in the back yard; my (2) golden's were playing in the pool.

Took this random shot of my female as she brough me her ball to play fetch with; upon closer look I her eyes had a story to tell.

1) actual shot SOOC

2) Her left eye on closer inspection;

3) Her right eye you can see our house, the pool and her mate.

Definitely in your face shot. A bit too close for me. All else looks spot on; her eyes are sharp. Was this cropped? I'd keep a bit more on the right since her left eye is at the very edge of the frame.

I cropped the top half of the shot; a yellow towel was very distracting.

I love the shot, but I agree that it would be nice to see it a little less close. However, for an SOOC shot, that you took upon a ball retrieval, I'd still commend the sharpness and great DOF. Unplanned, this is still very good. And I definitely love the reflections.

Too arty for my taste but each to their own.

I quite like this. Would have preferred the ears to be more in focus, I like that the nose if out of focus.

The only thing that is bugging me is the eyes, one being dark with little or not light reflection and the other having lots.

I like it though, nice shot

A dog photo with an OOF nose just doesn't look right to me. That nose is a BIG part of the 'face'. I'd take care to present it in focus.

In this shot, just about the only thing in focus is the eyes and some strips of fur. Sorry, but it just looks like you are experimenting with the limitations of your camera (lots of pixels in that 60D) and the narrow DOF of the lens wide open. OTOH, if this looks good to you - press on!

If I had taken this shot, a moment afterward I would have checked my lens for smudges of dog snot. :)
