Screw in pc port plug

I am looking for a PC plug that will screw into my camera (5d2 and 7d) with a 3.5mm plug on the other end. I have been using the ones supplied with my Cactus V5, and have not been able to keep the PC port locked into the camera, and found that I have to hold the cable into the camera to get a solid connection. The cable only needs to be about 3-5 inches, any idea where I could get such a cable?

If you can solder, just buy 2 miniphone plugs and a Screwlock PC to Screwlock PC cord. Cut the cord in half and solder a miniphone plug to the end. You should be able to make 2 cords. The nice thing is you can make them any length you want.

I was looking at this, but it is a foot long - much longer than I need from my camera to my trigger which is sitting on the flash.

Maybe this will work, and I like the idea of getting 2 cables out of it.

If you can solder, simply splice the cable, remove the excess, and re-attach.

If you're going with the "two cable" idea, you might also try putting RJ45 ends on them. This will make them modular and allow you to use an extending cable if you want more ranage. Just a thought.

It can also be used on a 580EX II. Attach it to the flash with the screw in plug and plug into your wireless receiver.

Note: I tried to make some custom cables for my Pocket Wizards but my fat fingers, small wires and soldering gun don't play well. Almost not worth the effort...at least not for me.

Have you ever bought an extension cord that was exactly the length you needed to get from the appliance to the wall?

C'mon. The only way to get a cable that's the perfect length is to make your own. A few extra inches of cable really isn't hard to deal with. Wrap it up, tape it, velcro it, whatever.
