Lightroom help....removing item from photo

I have a picture of my grand daughter standing in a bed of flowers with a grass lawn area in the background, unfortunately there is a watering hose lying on the lawn that detracts from the photo..is there a way to remove the hose from the photo in Lightroom? Unfortunately it is also a jpeg photo, not a raw photo

Only way I know of to do it effectively is to download the demo of Perfect Layers and use that. Other more experienced users may have some better advice.

Upload the photo. There is a good chance you can clone the hose out using the spot removal tool. Difficult to know for certain without seeing the photo. Stuff like you describe is the reason to have PSE or CS5.

It is possible with the clone tool. It will be slow and cludgy, but possible. Post the jpg.

You can use Lightroom to remove the house but it will take much more time than using a pixel editor like Photoshop or PaintShop Pro.

1. Go to the Develop Module and select the Spot Removal Brush.
2. Make sure the brush is set to Clone, Brush size between 76 and 80, and Opacity to 100.
3. Carefully place the brush over a portion of the hose and Lightroom will guess at the source from which you want to clone (the white circle). Use your mouse to drag the white circle manually instead of having Lightroom guess the clone source; for best result position the white circle as close as possible to the hose without overlapping onto it. This will avoid getting a repetitive cloning pattern.
4. Repeat step 3 as often as necessary to clone the entire hose.
