Thank you so much to you guys who have tried your best to help me with this problem, its appreciated! I returned the camera, as even if it was a case of me just having to zoom in its not really appropriate for self taking of pictures when out with friends. I was told by the person in the store that its possible the fact its 14 mp and my older one is 10 mp and appeared fine could be the problem, that the 14 mp pictures would look different on the computer screen in comparison....

Still I don't think it was right, the photos reminded me of when in a fairground fun house mirror!

PEBKAC. The camera shop person is wrong too. Given how little information you gave us helping you was pretty much impossible.

It's not the camera. It's your screen. (Which explains why you don't see it on the camera lcd)
Set it to native resolution.

A Dell 2007 for instance, that would be 1600x1200 pixels. On another (16:9) it might be 1600 x 900 Certainly not 1280x768: That's a 5:3 ratio. Most 20" screens are either 16:9, 16:10 or (old) 4:3.
1280x768 used to be used on 19" screens, like this one: http://www.shopping.com …t-Adjustable-Stand/prices (external link)

Just came here to say that.

Provided you are running Windows Vista or 7 and have the appropriate video drivers installed (as in, not running the microsoft-built ones that come with Windows), you can't select a higher resolution than your monitor supports. Open up the display settings and mode the resolution slider as high as it goes. That is the proper resolution for your LCD, regardless of whatever aspect it might be.

Im planning on getting a Canon 12 mp camera in replacement over the weekend so Im hoping I don't have the problem again, but I will definatly take your advice into consideration...

And I didn't post any photos on the thread as I hadn't got my camera or the photos at that time to post or try things out im afraid, and yesterday was the only possible day to return the camera as it would have become inconvient.

Ours was purchased Feb 2008 and is a Dell monitor... However on clicking on the display settings im not able to set it 1600 x 900... Or 1600 x 1200. Theres a higher one than that but it doesn't work.

Its also not avaliable on the display settings on ATI Catalyst Control Centre 2007 version.

How can I change this?

Wait until you get your new camera and see if you even have the problem.

Yeah I guess so. The Samsung S1065 10MP shows images in true form (fine) on the computer so hopefully the Canon will be fine.

Three people already told her that, but the PEBKAC inertia was too difficult to overcome.

What Dell?
What higher setting? Why (or how) doesn't it work?

You really need to be more concise if you want us to be able to help…

Yes, she probably will.
She'll probably also have the same problem with your or my images. Since the problem (as far as I can tell) is the monitor setting.

Ok, new camera... Same problem. It must be the monitor...

The monitor is A Dell SP2008WFP and it is 20 inches.
The highest Desktop Area setting iam able to have is 1680 x 768 on the ATi Catalyst Control Centre settings.

Im getting fed up of this issue... Please help me resolve this!

A quick search shows the max resolution of your monitor to be 1680x1050. Try setting it to that.
