I've been in the market for a new camera strap.

I wanted something that differentiates from the regular CANON DIGITAL red and black fad, but still had a lot of versatility; and still looked cool.

Lo and behold, I stumbled upon the LensLoop on Kickstarter.
And it looks very promising.

The project ended on Kickstarter yesterday, but they still are taking orders until August 1st. (I plan to order one before then, heh.)

If I would've seen this earlier, I would've backed it in a heartbeat.

What do you photogs think?
Yes, it MIGHT take a while to receive (a month or so, if I'm not misunderstood), but still, I'm sold and deciding between Black, Burgundy and Creme. Lol.

I'm sorry if this has been posted before but a search didn't bring up any matches. :o

I use a Luma Loop and while it is indeed expensive it serves me well. I've never had a problem with any of the things he has fixes for except for price.

So he's making a knock off Black Rapid strap out of old seat belts...

And people pledged $15k, holy **** people are stupid.

Some cameras, some lenses, plenty of gaffer's tape and beer.

I agree. For the price of 25-30$ though, you can go terribly wrong.
I like the simplicity. :p

IMHO: I'd rather pay more for a Sun Sniper or BlackRapid. If you want something like this, make your own. . .but, "To each their own" :)

Plenty of options for similar and proven sling straps. Personally, I use a carry speed strap (external link) (link (external link)). I would probably go with a proven product...

i like the simplicity. reminds me of my chrome messenger bag. I'd get one, but i have a bad habbit of buying straps, then selling them. I've finally settled with domke grippers. but i do like these more than the BR straps. just simpler and cleaner.

They actually had a DIY option, but that was only available through the Kickstarter page.

That's solely why I'm so interested.
Clean and minimal. Nothing super clunky and militant.

I actually built a strap very similar to this one a few months back. For about $20, it's a comfortable and virtually bomb-proof strap. I built this one as a gift, and thought it turned out pretty well for the money. This sling will screw into any tripod mount via the FastenR3. Note: the 4' long sling works best for someone around 5' 3" - you may want a longer sling depending on your height (I'm 6' 3" and a 5' long sling works good for me).

Ingredients:
4' x 1.5" seatbelt polyester simple sling from Strapworks.com (external link)
1.5" metal webbing-to-cordage reducing loop from Strapworks.com (external link)
1.5" inner diameter steel quick link from your local Home Depot
1" inner diameter steel quick link from your local Home Depot
Black Rapid FastenR3 (external link)

Instructions:
Slide the reducing loop onto the sling
Fasten the sling together with the 1.5" quick link
Attach the 1" quick link to the reducing loop
Attach the FastenR3 to the 1" quick link

You're gonna put this poor kickstarter out of business.

O.o
Almost, if not, completely identical.
And even simpler. Bravo.

bw!

I'm going to use your idea if you don't mind, but change it a little since I'm right under 6'. :D

For a little extra (extra footage of seatbelt, say 7-9ft?), I could see using these (external link) and these (external link) (from StrapWorks as well) to make it adjustable.
