Hi all,

I've just picked up the 3 light kit and am having a little difficulty getting it to flash at the right time with my 60D

I've tried the in built wireless and the flashes go off but not at the right time, so while I see them go off and hear the "ready beep" from the heads they don't illuminate the shot.

I've also got a Nissin Di866II so I thought I would give that a go and while I couldn't get wireless master mode to work and even stranger when I connected the sync cable all the heads they would flash as quickly as they could recharge while I had the shutter half pressed, I did manage to get it working by setting the Nissin to Manual at 1/128 and lo and behold all working as I would have expected.

Very odd way to work though!

Is there something I'm missing here?

As I'm getting the flashes sort of working I don;t really want to splash out on radio receivers if I can avoid it, plus they seem pretty expensive here in the UK :(

Cheers,

John

I think maybe the pre-flash is setting them off....
Not sure if those have a feature to ignore the pre-flash like some of the hot shoe flashes do.

Put your 60D popup flash in manual mode. This eliminates the pre-flash.

So do you think its either radio transmitters or just use the Nissin workaround?

I guess I do not understand your setup. You do know that the built in wireless in your 60d only works with Canon slave compatible flashes or 3rd party flashes that can emulate a Canon slave. If you are trying to trigger your Interfits with the popup flash you need to turn off the Canon wireless function. It serves no purpose and is probably causing you problems.

Ah, now that I didn't know - thank you.

As they were firing I thought it was the wireless that was doing it, but yes thinking about it more it was just the flash going off which is why the Nissin is working.

The "wireless" of Canon wireless is pulses of light coming from the master flash. There is NO radio wireless involved.

OK, (don't I feel silly!), now I wonder if anyone could recommend some cheap wireless triggers that would work on my system.

I would guess from eBay or Amazon.co.uk as I'm over here in the UK.

Thanks again for your help though, at least I can focus in a direction now.

Those get good reviews. Look for the ones with the C3 connector so it will have the shutter release cable for your 6oD if you ever want to use it. The one you linked to has the C1 cable for the Rebels.

Scrap that - its not the one - the 60D looks like it might be the C1

I would expect the shutter release connection on the 60D is like the C3.
I would get the RF-602 rather than the 602. The 603 uses same device for transmit and receiver if I remember correctly. That's the only benefit over the 602s.
