Here's the color version. Which one do you like better?

For me, there isn't enough contrast between the island and the water on the B&W version. In the old film days you could have shot it with a green filter and turned the trees white. As it is, I like the color version better.

The color is better because the green trees contrast with the blue water. In the B&W they're almost the same shade (like Jon C said).

I can do all of that with PhotoShop. I agree that there could be more tonal contrast between the blues and greens, but are you sure about white trees?

Prefere the color version but i think it might look even better as an hdr or fake-hdr

Nice pictures. Color is much better! Nature is colorful, don't hide the colors.

The blue in Crater Lake is such an incredible shade, it is a shame to convert it to B&W. Love that place, and your color shot.

I personally prefer the black and white. The minute I opened the thread I went "wow".

I didn't quite feel anything from the color version.

Thanks for your comments! I think I agree with you in this case. In the color version my eye is attracted to the blue, but in the b&w version, I notice the natural lines and shapes more. Also the b&w photo has a more timeless feel for me.

Thanks! The lake was an incredible deep blue, I must admit.
