Triangulation?

Hi there,

I am currently in Europe and will travel some 8000 km East for a short vacation in three Asian capitals (each quite distant from the others).

This will give me at least two points on Earth, reasonably far away for some geeky celestial maths.

Anyone has an idea as to any practical application that can be derived from travelling far?

As far as the night sky goes, the only difference will be a bid change in latitude. Off the top of my head 1 degree for every 67 miles. It'd talk a long distance North or South and two really dark and flat places to see any difference in the night sky. Put Australia on your trip....then the sky will change. You can use a GPS and save waypoints for home and all three cities. That should give you some numbers to play with.
