I would like to start out this thread by saying that Gadget infinity (the makers of the Cactus wireless triggers) have done me well, beyond well in fact.

First, lets throw it up for the fantastic triggers. True, they are not perfect, but for the price, they do the job wonderfully. They have also been silently tweaking the triggers when problems arise (better battery door compartment, overheating issue, etc.)

There were a few things I was expecting when buying from an out of country company:

  • Little to no customer service
  • Shipping expected to take FOREVER
  • No return policy/warranty

First, as you will see several people posted here before, the shipping (if using the fastest shipping) took 2-4 days from China - AMAZING.

Recently, I have been having a problem with the triggers overheating, so I sent an email to Gadget Infinity, expecting very little. I was emailed back promptly, telling me that they were going to stand behind their product, offering a refund or the option to send my triggers back in and receive new ones. I then asked if they were interested in hearing my thoughts on the units, which they replied they were and sent the email over to the R&D department.

I just wanted to say that Gadget Infinity have surpassed my expectations and I will definitely be ordering from them again. Have no fear where they are concerned is my opinion.

Sounds like a good testimonial to me. I'd rather hear this information from a working pro than to read 10 "reviews" that could have been written by anyone.

Well they are based of Hong Kong so you can't expect too much oversea. Almost nothing is returnable in China once out the door. We are lucky to have B&H with 30 days return policy

Its a positive review...

And a damn good testimonial at that.

Another issue they have "silently" been tweaking/addressing is compatibility with some Nikon flashes.

They seem to stand behind the Cactus V5.

Just scroll through previous news:

Cactus V5 now works with Nikon flashes

The wait is over for Nikon flash users! The Cactus V5 on sale are now equipped with the new hot shoe plates. The previously mentioned Nikon SpeedLite models are now compatible with the Cactus V5: SB-28, SB-80DX, SB-600 and SB-700.

For current V5 users, we will ship you the new hot shoe next week. An email will also be sent to you confirming the number of hot shoe(s) required. The replacement of the new hot shoe is simple. If in doubt about the installation please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you again to your understanding and patience in this matter. If you have any questions or concerns, be sure to contact our CS at service@gadgetinfinity.com (external link). "

Again, they are amazing. Although they have had some issues with the product, which is to be expected for a quick release, they fully stand behind their units with great customer service. I cannot say enough how pleased I am with this company.

Do they actually make the Cactus triggers? I was under the impression that GI was just a retailer.

It was my impression they made it, and when I asked if I could make recommendations and join the beta team, he forwarded my email to the R&D department. They were the first (and only for a while) to have the triggers, but I may be incorrect in the fact of them being the manufactures.

They have told me there was an error in some of the units, have fixed the issue, and are sending the tested replacement units to me as we speak.

I'm beyond pleased with my V5's. I just got them in about 3 weeks ago and used them during a beach wedding (around 80 or so) and another local wedding where it was around 90 and they worked flawlessly. I think it's safe to say that I didn't get the batch with the heat issue which is a relief. I plan on buying another duo to accompany the 4 I already have to complete the studio lighting. Haven't misfired yet.
