I've trolled around this site to get a better understanding of what is required for setting up an inexpensive portable home studio flash kit. I currently have a 550ex and looking at adding a 2nd flash to tinker around for our kid's portrait in the garage and starting to get requests for the neighbor's kids as well. Once I purchase the flash will probably move forward on the Yongnuo transmitters and some no-name stands/umbrellas.

I'd like to keep the additional flash at less than $100 so I've come up with a llist of potential flash's:

-Vivitar 285HV: old, manual, but a work horse
-Yongnuo 560: new but reliability is questionable
-Canon 420EX: ETTL, potential back up flash, it's a Canon
-Canon 540EZ: plenty of power

I'm leaning towards the Vivitar or the 540EZ but would like some feedback or additional direction...thanks!
