Empty room means....

.... a little studio!!

We have a few flatmates moving out which leaves me with an empty room to set up some sort of studio for whatever reason, stock, still life, portrait or just experimental stuff.

HELP!! Ok, so for all you pros out there with your own setups and studios... what's the first step in actually getting it set up?

Requirements? what do I need to get started?
Table? What type? Like a square wooden sturdy table? A chair?
What about back drops? Type of lighting do I need?
Should the walls be painted white for better lighting?

The room is small. there is no closet, only 1 window - 1 overhead light inset and a ceiling fan.

What are the dimensions of the available space?

Can the window be totally blocked out?

well, that went out the window... room is staying occupied. Need a plan B for some sort of area to set up in.
