I have used 6400 on a 5DII with great photos as a result. A little bit of noise with such a large file is not really noticeable.

I've actually gotten some pretty nice shots at 6400 with my 5D M2. Can't say much about the other two though.

So shoot on ISO 100 and stop complaining. It's there as an option for pros who require that setting - such as a wedding in a dark church where I used 6400 and it worked just fine. Images were sharp. A little noise, sure, but that was not an issue at all.

Photojournalists will always take a noisy image over no image. Always.

When my job is to go out and get a photo of something where I need to use iso 12,800 you better believe I'm going to use 12,800. Returning to my editor empty handed to say, "it was too dark" is never an option.

If that's the case, then you shouldn't ever use your camera on anything other than ISO100.

Noise is nice part of photography. I say embrace it.

When you say "give sharp images" - what/how are you talking about. Have you tried printing these noisy images? I'll bet you'd be surprised.

Always, always, always!!! And if the moment is strong enough, usually any technical weakenesses are overlooked.

I know the going rate of the 5D MkII, but what's the street price of the guy that holds the gun to your head and makes you shoot ISO 25,600?

Bill is my name - I'm the most wanted man on my island, except I'm not on my island, of course. More's the pity.
