I've seen these guys around the Rideau River once in a while...
I really dig birds, but I'm pretty clueless as to what I'm shooting most of the time.

Thanks Evan.

That would also explain why he was doing that funny little dance!

(I love this place!)

Cheers

I saw one of these recently here in North Alabama. A new life bird for me. Video of its dance which is one of it's behaviors in my Bird Videos gallery @ http://gofish.smugmug.com/ (external link)

Jerry,
I was hoping to get a good shot of him in action but alas, this was the only one that was a keeper.
He flew off once he saw me. Zippy little bugger.

Cheers,
Steve

American Goldfinch.

It is also best to create your own thread for information or IDs. Some people may get a little mad for dropping in on their thread when the subject is not related.

Welcome to the forum :)

Thanks!

Yeah, I considered starting a new thread but thought the topic was sufficiently related to just jump in here. No need to clutter up the forum with quasi-identical topics.

No need to clutter up the forum with quasi-identical topics.

It is completely acceptable to post as many IDs as you want on on the Bird forums. The only time you need to worry about cluttering up the forums is when you are posting (for example) "what lens should I get for XXX subject"...just try the search function :)

The main reason that you should post your own thread is because you will get more hits :)
With the limited traffic the Bird talk gets it would even be better to post your image to to the Sharing Bird Photos section.

Happy posting,
BB

Good to know, thanks for the pointers.

I see we are Feisol tripod bedfellows. I have the CT-3441. Good stuff!

haha, good to see another owner. I think they are very solid tripods that not many people know about.
