Here's a captive Snowy Owl shot which I was lucky enough to get in falling snow. And instead of flying to Canada, I just had to pop 40 miles down the road from my home in the UK :)

Pretty shot, but wouldn't a trip to Canada be nice?

Gorgeous shot, John. Where did you see this fantastic owl?

I know our summer has been bad but I'm presuming this was a while back too ;)

Fantastic shot! Great to capture the bird in the snow - adds so much more to the shot!

Thanks all! This shot was taken at a local falconry centre, in winter about two years ago. It was too snowy to go to work and I got to do this instead :)

Me and some friends donate a lot of our photography to the falconry centre, which is a charity that provides raptor-related education, bird rescue and rehabilitation, captive breeding and release programmes. In return, they allowed us to go into the centre when the snow fell and flew some of the birds for us. We got to go back again last winter but I missed the Snowy Owl that time because I almost didn't make it there through the snow.
