Well.... I went with the best intentions of getting some quality shots of the home boys. Let's just say I came up a little short on that goal. I did get some decent shots of the visiting boys though.

Willie Reid cruises toward the endzone for Florida States first score

Coach is not too happy with how this is starting

So very tight coverage.... this kind that will get you a little yellow flag thrown

The matchup between 11 for Duke on Defense and 89 for Florida state was a great one... here 89 comes away with the catch.

Here 11 wins, snagging a pass intended for 89

Coach Bowden was not impressed...

and once again 89 wins this time pulling down the pass through 11's hands

and finally a late touchdown for Florida State under the lights as flies over the pilon for the score.

Final score was 55 - 24, but it was a moral victory for the home boys as they were able to move the ball and score against one of the top ranked teams in the nation. Thanks for looking... cheers!

Great shots! I wonder about those knee things, too. Never saw them before and then I shot a couple of high school footbal games and half the kids had them ... I assume it is just another fad like those gators that some team wear over their shoes. I remember the days when men were men ... :-)

Excellent images! I love the coach shots. Sometimes watching them is as entertaining as the game itself. :)

I think they are suposed to go on your wrist to keep sweat from dripping onto your hands and making them slippery.

I'll take a stab at this one with the knee things. I know that a lot of athelets have a problem with the tendon that runs down the front of their leg just under their knee from all of the running and jumping that they do. You will see mostly high school kids wearing them......basketball, soccer, football and I've even seen some track kids wearing them. I guess it's painful. Somehow this little band outs pressure on the spot and takes away the pain. I know the PT wanted my son to wear one for basketball.
I'm assuming that's what those are for, unless he's just trying to start a fad of wearing rubberbands around your legs. It's almost like some kind of tendionitis. You'll see it a lot in younger kids.....jr. high to high school. They usually out grow it by the time their in college.

Stanc30 - so here is what I go shoot with. I am trying not to overspend and buy stuff that exceeds my skill. For this game I had a 20D with a Sigma 120-300 f2.8 EX... for most shots. When the ball got inside the 15 I used a 10D with a Sigma 70-200 f2.8 EX. About a 1/3rd of the shots with the 20D also have a 1.4 TC in use. The first and last shots were done with the 10D. On my cameras I have learned to not trust AI-Servo much, and also try not to shoot bust as I have found that all the frames will be in focus except for the one I really want. I constantly tap the shutter release getting it to relock on target. It has upped my keeper rate, but I am still looking to upgrade the body for next season to get better focusing, as well as re-add a long L to my kit. And of course none of these here are staight from the camera, but there ins't anything all that fancy done either since I don't have the patience or skill. Cheers!

Just an update on the things around thier legs - Quasi nailed it. The team doctor said that on the more slender sprinting type player, the bands or sometimes prerap rolled up below the knee applying pressure to relieve tendionitis. They are the real deal - no fad going on here. Wide Receivers and Corner Backs are normally the ones you should see sporting these.
