Back in the day I was hoping to set up a website for a blogging gig I wanted to apply for, I did a lot more writing and journalism related stuff back then. But Photography has taken over my life and the writing has taken a backseat, and after seeing that my webhost just deducts the bill from my credit card automatically I decided to revamp my old site into a portfolio site.

Most of my photo related gigs are nightclubs, but when I'm not shooting that I shoot automotive stuff or abandoned places and sometimes I get asked for portraits. My ultimate goal here is acquiring local gigs. This website is gonna be on business cards I eventually print out.

Since it's a wordpress site, I'm trying to get away from the typical blog post infrastructure you usually see on such a site.

Site: www.kinetic-sound.com (external link) (not really a fan of "Firstname-lastnamephoto.org" site names)

The photos up there are OLD (when I was extremely new to photography) and the posts are just legacy stuff from the previous layout I had which was more writing oriented. The very front slides will focus on my finest photos, seperated by genre, and every other post or gig I get paid for will be linked in my blog area.

So, am I at least heading in the right direction in terms of layout and presentation? Does this wordpress theme fit the bill for what I'm trying to get done?

I wish it was kosher to have music playing in the background, I picked a music inspired domain name for a reason :(

So you went with something that has nothing to do with photography?

Layout looks ok, but there's not much to see as yet as some of the pages are "coming soon". Best bet is to set these sort of pages to 'private' until you finish working on them.

Pages section links are not uniform, some are CAPS some are not. There's a couple of more links there "Autos & Reviews", "Parties" & "People" that are only accessible when someone is on one of the pages and are not directly accessible from navigation.

About me page needs work.

All I got was that you're a writer..You're kind assuming people visiting your site already know something about you...

With that said, I also enjoy writing about autos. Like a kid jonesing for a pile of candy in front of a store, I always wanted to hop in my dad’s old Mustang or Datsun and joyride around Oakland. That never happened partly due to my inability to see past the steering wheel. Even with California’s War on Sports Cars Pollution, California is a cool place for the driving enthusiast with so many race tracks spread throughout the state

That entire paragraph seems out of place.

Your contact page is the same as your about page as well.

Your Blog and Portfolio pages are also incomplete.

Not much to review here. It is a nice website so far, but you need to do a lot of work.

Also, it seemed a bit sluggish. I pinged the server and the latency wasn't high, so I'm assuming your script is a bit sluggish.

Try and brighten up the gray of the background a bit...it is kind of dark when combined with heavy black typography and accents.

I bought the domain name with intention on making it into writing blog and not a photo website. I ran out of cash, though, so I'm not able to get a new domain name
