I wasn't around when the first one came out and Google didn't find anything useful. I realize no one can know for sure, but any educated guess would be helpful. Thanks.

Maybe if it was stolen or on a dogy website where they don't send you the lens but rather steal money. But then again I've seen the lens for around 1200. Not like I'm going to buy it. Street price atm is 2300-2500, shop price here in australia is 3200-3400. Yes no joke. it is a zoom lens with the IQ of primes from 70-200. the price point is valid. People are dumping their 135 f2 to get this lens because you cannot tell the difference between that and this lens at f2.8. 7D, 17-55 f2.8 IS, 70-200 f2.8 IS II, 50 f1.4
