I took this yesterday at a birthday party and thought it would look nice with some vintage processing. I'm not a fan of vintage, but this family would like it, I think. I DON"T like the action I used here, but not sure if it is because I don't typically like vintage processing or if it really isn't the best one to use. I prefer an action as I suppose I could do it myself in aperture 3, but don't really know how, as it isn't something i ever do. Can anybody suggest a vintage processing action that I might like better?

Can't really help with another vintage action as I'm not much on them either. What you have looks ok to me. My only thought is that the older boy looks like he's gonna grab the camera and take off. For a family shot he doesn't appear to be a part of the family as Mom, Dad, & Baby are connected as a group with him outside the group. Just a thought when I first saw the image.

I would say that this one seems to be quite dark, maybe try to lighten it up a tad and then you may like it a little better!

Cool shot though ;)

Also, Im not really getting a vintage feel from it... It just seems that the skin is blown and somewhat yellow.

Reduce contrast, shift color temp toward yellow and maybe add a little noise or film grain.

The above picture looks fine to me too.

I don't have Aperture to help you. But using LR and whoiswolf preset and adjust to my liking, then pp in cs5 to get this vintage(IMO) look.

so desaturate, lighten, reduce contrast, add yellow. I'll play around with it and see what happens. Maybe add some grain? @Dennis, yes you are right. I didn't like this one because he was "disconnected", but I agree he looks like a thief. This isn't the image I'm using for them, I have quite a few that I like better, it just happens to be the one I"m playing around with. I just didn't realize WHY I didn't like it as much as some of the others, but it is probably because he looks like a pickpocket, ha ha. Thanks for the help folks.

Glad you've got other shots to use.

I've got some presets in ACR I rarely use, so thought I'd give one a shot. It drops the contrast a little, reduce saturation about 50%, and split tone shadows to yellow/orangish with 50% sat. It'd probably be different on the original before your edit.
