I took this photo last week after getting my new Sigma lens shipped to me. It's by the New York Public Library next to Bryant Park. I love the detail in this street light.
It was taken at f/3.2.
Thank you

Jul 31, 2011 14:45 | #3 Thanks, picked up a Sigma 17-50 f/2.8. I like it so far. Canon 60D / Canon 50mm f1.4 / Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 OS / Canon 530ex ii

The street background is distracting for me, when there is so much detail to take in of the statue. cheers, Paul

That bird on the sidewalk grabs my attention every time I glance at the pic Canon T1i Nifty 50, 35-135 f4-5.6, 70-200 f4, 580, 2x 430s, and a super long Ettl cord

Aug 15, 2011 22:08 | #6 Thanks for the comments. Yeah, now that you point it out, there's too going on behind the light. Even if I were to crop out the bird, there's some people I couldn't crop out. I took it at f/2.8 hoping the background would be blurrier. Canon 60D / Canon 50mm f1.4 / Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 OS / Canon 530ex ii

Aug 16, 2011 00:42 | #9 Oh yeah, this was at f/3.2, oops. So a longer lens, meaning like a zoom would improve the bokeh? I just thought use a lower aperture. Canon 60D / Canon 50mm f1.4 / Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 OS / Canon 530ex ii

However, DOF is also dependent on the focal length of the lens and the distance to where you are focusing cheers, Paul
