Is anybody using it? I'm keen to hear your thoughts.

I just got mine in the mail, and am seriously underwhelmed so far.

I've tried it on a desktop and two laptops (all Windows 7). It's buggy and limited.

I should clarify that I have no cause for complaint about the device itself. It's the i1 Profiler software that is irritating me.

When I install it I get a warning from my virus software about some kind of trojan or something (I forgot to write down what it was). I remove that, then run it, only to find that I don't (as far as I can tell) get R G and B manual control when calibrating the desktop screen - the white temperature is controlled entirely within the profile, and not well.

Actually, I can't tell if it does it well, because it doesn't give results at the end! Sure, it gives a fancy 3D graph which tells me nothing, some pretty photos which tell me the same, and a linear graph which I'm familiar with, but no numeric results! It doesn't tell me if it's hit my white temp, gamma or luminosity targets. Nothing!

Yes, there's some wonderful Delta E stuff, but where's my basic results? I feel like a car manufacturer has put in an iPod dock, but removed the steering wheel and gearstick.

On the laptops, for some reason it assumes they have ADC (Automatic Display Control), and refuses to give me manual brightness control. The result is that I can't calibrate the brightness of laptop screens!

(Oh, I forgot to mention earlier - yes, I've got the updated version - 1.1.1)

I'm going to try it on some Macs later in the week, and I'll probably be back to continue this rant. In the meantime, does anybody have any solutions to my problems? Any feedback of your own?

I miss i1 Match :(

Update: The product manager from X-Rite called me (an international call out of business hours for him, which was great) and discussed my concerns. He said they're aware of everything, and that future software updates will address it all.

I feel happier, but I'll keep the i1D Pro in the cupboard for now.
