In order to download the latest and greatest all I believe Canon wants to see is some version of their software already installed.

It's used for RAW viewing and conversion. Zoombrowser is used for cataloging and JPEGs. The only other "essential" for general is EOS Utility to be able to interface with the camera. All those can be downloaded for free in current version from Canon website. Alan Myers

Not so sure it's possible to download anything (all the downloads on the Canon web-site are upgrades AFAIK) - so without having an earlier version installed (or the old disks) - I don't think the Canon web-site will be of any help. Wow, what a nice picture! You must have a really great camera!
