Downloading from Sandisk or Camera USB for better quality?

There are two ways on my computer to upload photos. The one way is to use the usb lead attached to the camera with the sandisk inside and the other is to remove the sandisk and put in the slot on the computer tower.

Which way of uploading should give me a better outcome of photos? Thanks.

No difference except in speed.

I download by putting the SD card into the computer, only because it will start downloading automatically with me. When I plug the camera in via USB, I have to go through steps to start the download. But there's really no difference in quality.

Downloading via a card reader is faster, easier, and less problematic than direct connection.

Please don't take this the wrong way Gemma, but based on your posts the past few days you really, really need to learn some basics about computers and digital photography. Something like "digital photography for dummies" might be a good place to start. You'd probably need to read "computers for dummies" before you an read the digital photography book.

I think you'd learn a lot, and it'd give you a basis to work things out for yourself in future, rather than asking what are honestly incredibly basic questions.

To answer this question: moving a file between two locations doesn't change the contents of the file. Copy it any way you like.

Personally, I never treat the camera body as a card reader. I remove the CF cards and put them into a Lexar USB 3 reader. That is going to be faster that the USB 2 the camera body can handle. The same goes for SD cards.

I always remove the CF card from my camera and use my tower's card reader to extract images from the card. I don't like using the USB connection to upload images...space on my desk is pretty limited, and I'm always worried that I'm going to either knock the camera over or spill something on it as I usually have a cool drink on my desk as I'm working. The USB connector on the camera side is tiny (and likely fragile) and I worry that if i knock my gripped 50D over onto the connector that it will damage the port on the camera.
