Do I? Im sorry I buy everything for myself and my parents havent spent a dime on me in 8 years. (minus food, school, transportation to and from school and the obvious living expenses.)

Your list of minuses is likely about $5000/yr for the typical North American lifestyle. Teenagers are awesomely naive.

True, that is a good point, however unlike some americans that I know I don't get everything I ask mommy and Daddy for.

In Australia, typical to bring up a kid cost $500,000.
I have two kids, and no wonder I'm still working hard ;)

Also, I love the 17-40 for the quality of the images and the focal length it provides as well as the build quality, otherwise I would get a cheap lens. I like to spend my hard earned money on things that will last. L lenses have been known to last MANY years.

you are telling me you bought that volvo (from your post history) from your part-earnings?
insurance, tax and all?
if true, I will be impressed

in any case, my point stands. you really don't need 17-40 to cover your wideangle needs, especially you own a crop camera. there are cheaper (and almost as good) alternatives available.

I think the average that I heard in the USA was $250,000 but that may have been years ago.
$500,000 would equal out to $27,000 a year, You could essentially buy a new car, a new set of lenses and a camera body if you got rid of a kid.

Indeed. The volvo I have been saving for years, and with a friend owning a car shop I got a deal on it.

Also, I dont know if I will be upgrading to FF as I advance in photography.

How about selling one of your lenses to financed a 17-40 (used). Out of pocket, this would be about $200 or so. It's a trade off, but so is life. I've reshuffled my lenses like this.

I have considered it, Its something to sleep on for sure. but logically I would lose the length of the 70-200, or lose the low light capability of the 30mm 1.4

You guys clearly took this the wrong way, I dont expect anyone to give me anything. I was joking. I had a job for 2 years which was in the public library in the children's section. anyone who LOVES that job is a saint.

I volunteer at the local library, shelving books and tutoring kids who need help with reading. Trust me, that job isn't bad. I've had jobs that were much worse than that. I'll give you some examples; cleaning up dairy barns after milking the cows; installing tubes in big boilers, janitor in a chemical factory and walking around the jungle and getting injured. These are bad jobs. Libraries are clean, well lit, comfortable and usually a safe work place. Be thankful you found a job with those qualities.

good point, there are jobs worse then where I was, I still didnt like it and I plan to find a job where I will love to go to work, thankfully I have found that job and I can not work there for another 24 days.

Canon EF 28mm f/2.8 on B&H for $249, $239 "imported." Right smak dab in the middle of the 17-40 and a full stop faster.

Shoot, sorry, missed the gear list there for some reason. Humblest apologies. The Sigma rocks on that old EF I'm sure.
