After months, nay years of critiquing people, I figure it is time to get in on the action.

This is my sister-in-law-in-law (my sister's husband's brother's wife) and her kid.

You captured a beautiful, intimate moment between mother and child. I like the very shallow depth-of-field. I think it adds a nice, soft element to this particular photo.

In my opinion, I would make the crop a little tighter to get rid of some of the blown out with hight-lights in the clothing. Our eyes naturally go to the brightest part of a picture and our focus should be on the interaction between mother and baby, not on their clothes. Another option is, you could lasso the bright white areas and adjust the levels in PhotoShop if you like the crop the way it is.

Thanks for the advice - I guess I could burn the cloths a little and see what pans out. I am actually at my folk's place at the moment, sans le tablet, so can't edit to easy. I'll do an update and post it soon.
