have this photo that I like except for the makeup on the right of her left eye. I can't seem to tone it down without making it worse. Can someone let me know how to go about it?

I suppose you mean left for us viewers, her right eye?

Clone or heal tool should work. On a new layer, then adjust opacity to taste later.

Add a new layer on top of your photo...

Select the Clone Stamp Tool and in the options bar set it to 70 percent Opacity, turn off Alignment, and select "Current Layer and Below"
Set the Clone Stamp tool to a soft brush, zoom in and sample and paint. You need to sample frequently to avoid repetitive patterns.

Here's a quick shot at both eyes....

It's still not clear to me what eye the OP means - her left or the viewer's left.

This brings up the point of the type of makeup that your subject chooses to use for a shoot. Although the problem here seems to be an application issue, she put to much on the inside corner of her eye, the TYPE of make up makes a huge difference for flash photography especially. Mineral based foundation is very popular right now and is horrible for flash photography. The shimmer it creates is a nightmare. Bare Essentials is one of the worst offenders. Smashbox Photo Ready Primer is wonderful stuff, as is MAC Studio Fix. Sometimes it pays to have this conversation with your model ahead of time. Most of us don't have the luxury of having knowledgeable pro make up artists with us. My daughter was a make up artist and taught me the ins and outs on that front. It makes a huge difference.

Sorry, Domat, I just realized that I might be hijacking your thread with that comment. I will delete if you prefer. Beautiful model by the way!

Sue- no, that is fine. I actually saw it on her eye and thought it was to much in person but I guess I am still lacking in confidence when it comes to makeup as I know nothing about it. So I didn't say anything.

thanks for the quick tutorial:)

You shouldn't compare what I did to your work; you have the original file with higher resolution. I think you did well but you could still remove a bit more of the makeup at the corners of her eyes. Try zooming in Photoshop and reducing the size of the Clone Tool brush to get right into the corners.

I got to learn to be clearer. I am not asking who did a better job, but if people prefer the model with a bit of the makeup like mine has. Or completely removed like yours has.
