This has to be my favorite lightning photo I've taken to date. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do, thanks for the comments.

I can see why it's your favorite. Very dramatic and nicely done. Did you have one of those automatic lightning sensors or do you shoot with long exposures?

I shoot with long exposures, the sensors are expensive and I am not smart enough to build my own haha.

Very nice... maybe try a little crop on the top and take out some of the clouds. Puts the horizon on the lower 1/3 line and the line of clouds on the upper 1/3 line and looks a little more pleasing to my eye, but then it's nice as it is too.

that is some good timing...i like the colors. it's hard enough to get a decent shot of the lightning but i think achieving the color balance is where you really came through on this one.

My camera is like the brush I paint a house with...I'm just looking for my detail brush, and a roller, and some high gloss paint, and a sprayer, yeah a sprayer would make things easier."

Build your own? I'm intrigued now. Do you have a link that you wouldn't mind sharing?

I have no idea where I read that a few years back. I've seen some decent tutorials on how to build lightning and sounds triggers... Wish I could help you out more.

I found one using an arduino and a photoresistor, all of which I have, so I just need to write the code for it and find a cord to plug it into the camera with.
