Yes, they are very beautiful, and consequently very popular.
They are also harsh and deceiving to the inexperienced.

Living 'under' Mt Roland one never tires of the ever changing vista created by the many different types of weather.
Tasmania is known for its 4 seasons in one day and that is well entrenched in the psyche of locals

That sounds like Scotland to me!

The single tree shots are very effective, Richard

Thanks Martin.
That tree has gradually receded over the years as bits fall out and land on the road.
I will miss it one day.

You can probably appreciate why I love seeing scenes of Scotland, particularly the highland areas.
I used to love some of the Scottish drama on TV - mainly for the scenery

This one is my very first Olympus (C740UZ) and I had no idea about settings as it had just arrived and I headed bush.
Solomons Throne ~ Walls Of Jerusalem
White balance way off and the sensor had a unique pattern on it!

The 'floor' of The Walls is at same elevation of Mt Roland above - 1200 metres with top of mountain at 1440 metres

Very nice. But you obviously have a different idea of mid-winter than we do. For us, winter means a couple of feet of snow.

Beautiful scenery. Love the colours and composition.
Must have been fascinating trip.

Thanks. Yes our winters at our elevations are pretty tame.
Climate here has changed our snow patterns.
It's rare now to have snow all winter plastered on our mountains, and then it is feet thick.

Funny from Darwin to think of Tasmanian winters as mild. To me it's freezing there about 362 days of the year. Our Darwin July (mid-winter) temps are mean minimum 67F, mean maximum 87F!

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.
