Wow. This is a fantastic thread!

My shot here was taken about a year ago, before I got my slr. It was resized (and unfortunately cut down to jpeg 2 or something to fit it under the 100kb) but otherwise, right out the camera. It was taken with a Kodak C340, which at the time retailed for $AUS250... I don't know what the pro's will be say but I was pretty thrilled with that shot :)

a bit wide, so it doesn't look all that good shrunk down. it was taken from a boat in japan, and is a photomerge of about 6 vertical images. it's 12x48 inches @ 300dpi when looked at full rez

not very lively, but makes a good photo for mounting on a bare wall

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

I can't decide on from these 2. I stopped looking for more as that'd only make it harder to choose. These are from southern Germany.

Here's mine, taken last summer on a friend's farm. I liked the spookiness of the desaturated version!

New to this forum, I've just spent over an hour looking at each photo in this thread. There are some truly awesome photographs here and obviously some very talented people. Such clarity and light! I've been taking pictures in my spare time (mostly vacations) for over 40 years and I can only hope that I will some day I'll have one or two as good as some of these.

What better way to make my first post than to throw out one of my photos? Here's one from a Grand Canyon trip last Fall. (If I can figure out how to get enough quality into 100 kb...)

My first go at taking and processing a RAW file. I have a lot to learn with RAW ;)
Picture was taken just after sunrise last Friday and was taken from Capel Curig with Snowdon in the background.

Lake Hume near Albury in NSW, Australia. Yeah, it looks a little washed out - but I opted to try and catch how bleached the place looked instead of hotting up the colours for pretty's sake. Be gentle with me - first post!

About 12 shots on 100ASA neg film, scanned at 5000DPI and merged with PTStitcher and Hugin. Looks pretty nice on the 2m wide print I got for the wall!

I've already submitted one, but I wanted to take the time to compliment everybody who's posted a shot. These are some of the most gorgeous landscapes I've ever seen! Hearty applause going to each and every one of you!
