That's your problem... "clear" is supposed to be used to remove haze when taking far away mountains, for example. That's on paper. In reality, that picture style is mostly unusable.

That image is begging for some boost in contrast and a little dodging and burning. ;)

Not too far from you. It's Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia. I have some color shots from a trip there. It's a great place to photograph.

There are some amazing photos in this thread. In fact, I just spent almost 30 minutes looking through all of the pages, and I'm pretty sure that every single photo was awesome :)

Here's my contribution ... I went hunting for trains and such right when I got my 20D and got this shot:

I took this with my cybershot T-1 a while ago and I really liked it ... in fact I printed it and put it up on my wall!

Well, it's not a problem to me... :)
I think it makes an interesting effect sometimes... You don't have to manipulate your shot afterwards. This pic is "as shot". But you're right, this setting is mostly unusable, but sometimes I use it to get something unreal to some pictures, just for fun... The "real" shot that I took just after this one is quite flat compared to this one.
