I managed to get my Sigma 135-400 for £299. It's an ok lens and needs a bit of work to get decent results. Or there's the 80-400 which is about £900...

As I was saying to Glenn on Sunday, it's not really a sports style lens but is ok.

Canon's 100-400 is about a grand....but has all the bells and whistles and would undoubtably be a far superior lens to the Sigma I've got!

I think the shots you've posted above prove that it's not what you've got, it's how you use it, very nice indeed ;)

I also have the 135-400 and have been more than pleased with it, although i doubt it will get much use now i have the 100-400L. I got myself into the habit of pre-focusing with it when i had the 300D, and carried on with it on the 20D where it seemed to perform a bit better.

I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a "budget" long lens.

Really appreciate your assistance people. I'm not in a position where I can afford to keep up with the big boys kit and generally have to keep an eye out for second hand lenses etc.

All good fun though!

The last one is a nice capture - The guy in the back will "polish out". He looks as if nothing is happening !!

I tried 3 times to get this picture right and even then I clipped the edge of the white line on the right hand side.

A great selection. I particularily like the lockup at Druids and the pack shot at Clearways.

Cheers,
Steve

I had a look yesterday and saw them for around £260. That's more my price range...just can't pull £1000 together without selling vital body parts. I think I'll have to write to Santa...I've been a good lad this year.

I went to the BARC racing at Snetterton but was pretty disappointed.

The red flags were being waved a lot, presumably to shake out any moth that may eat them during the winter, but out of 8 races only about three finished the full race. Some races were red flagged twice and declared void.

From a photography point of view it wasn't good light - pretty gloomy, and what racing that did happen was largely uninspiring.

Nice shots Dave. I'm really liking #3 & #8 from the first batch.
