I found this, laying eggs in a fresh shoot of one of my rose bushes.

Another variety I've not seen before and not been able to identify yet.

Looks as though she's been there for some time as you can see marks where she's moved the position of her feet.

Taken with the G9 again, which is proving to be not entirely useless in macro mode.

Thats a Rose Sawfly Pete. Its the larvae that gobble up all the new leaves on roses but dont really damage the rose other than makes it leafless lol.

Here you go - one munching my leaves a couple of years ago

Ah, thank you Linda. Shame really, that particular rose stem is one of the healthier ones.
