this was my first paid gig and i was super nervous. arcade fire performed a secret show in the middle of the street in my hometown of ~5000 people. these were taken from the crowd, and standing on some audio equipment on the periphery.

sweet set. like em all. love some. dont like the tilts :)

good thing there was no pit as you lessened your risk of them kicking you in the head.

thanks for your comment. sometimes i wonder if the tilts throw people off. half the time i do it just to get everything in the frame since i shoot only prime due to low light. sometimes i find the results can seem to make the shots more dynamic and hope that i'm not the only person with similar taste.

you aren't the only one. aside from the noise reduction, these are awesome. who paid you to shoot an arcade fire concert? I haven't heard a lot of instances where people get paid to shoot concerts usually people like me are begging for photo passes

thanks! i always shoot a small music festival in my hometown just for fun, and CBC Radio 3 saw my pics i took last year and commissioned me to shoot the festival for them this year. it's just lucky chance that one of the hottest bands in the world showed up. :)

I Like them, especially the last one. Looks like the lighting really sucked.

thanks!

the lighting was better for the other sets, and it was surprisingly tough. i was shooting f/1.4-2.0 and had to push my camera to iso3200 for the first time ever (thus the noise reduction) and i still wasn't getting as fast a shutter as i would have liked.. slower than 1/100s a lot of the time.

I don't mind low light. Shooting at ISO6400 is not really a big deal (5DII's). What bugs me to no end is radically uneven light or lighting where they think it's cool to use blue/purple/magenta lights exclusively.

Ya, 1/100s will lose you a lot of shots. I really do not like going below 1/160s. Even then, you have to time your shots.

wow, i didn't know 6400iso was usable on the 5dii. would you say it's comparable to 3200iso on the classic 5d?

these are really beautiful, except (as others have said) the tilts do nothing for me.

how was their set? great band, but i've heard negatives about their stage show.

thanks! i had seen them the night before (not shooting) at a much larger outdoor venue, which was great, but it was so much better at the smaller venue in my hometown. they even worked the much smaller stage very well.

i remember they became notorious in 2004 for the amazing, energetic live shows. i'm really surprised you've heard bad things - i haven't.

Here you go.

ISO 6400. No PP other than white balance and Topaz Adjust "Photo Pop" and downsized for web.

The 5DII is at least 1 stop better than the 5D at high ISO. I had a 5D before but needed better high ISO performance.
