Hey there, is it possible nowadays to buy a small compact camera (up to about £90 max) with good megapixels and settings but WITHOUT wide angle lens?

I hate wide angle lens, more trouble than they are worth but they all seem to be built in nowadays unless you go for more low spec.

Most people prefer wide angle, so that's where the camera companies went. Last year Canon had a couple decent cameras starting at about 35mm - the A3100 IS and the IXUS 1000 HS. No idea on pricing, though.

Seems like the Nikon L24 could answer our prayers.
With a truly non-wide lens, starting at 37mm, being sold for £74 at amazon@uk.

Well, most landscape and architectural photographers love them. Depends on what you like to shoot.

Photographing people. Just want a easy camera to take out places to just shoot nights out with friends etc... I get Wide Angle distortion when taking photos of a person on their own which I hate.

What settings should I use for taking photos of people out and about? I have the Samsung ES9 currently and so far haven't been successful with photos! Thanks.

If you don't like wide angle, just zoom in a little. 1/2 of the way in should be great for a flattering portrait perspective.

Most if not all P&S's have a zoom lens and just zooming in a bit will help like what's been said. Typical primes for portrait use on DSLR's are in the 85-100mm range. If you're not happy with the Samsung...try a Canon SD4000, S90, S95..they all have a zoom equivalent of 28-105mm and would be good for night shots since they all have a fast F/2 lens.

His budget is said to be £90.
The SD4000 is more than double that amount.
