Any way to silence my 10D?

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to silence (or muffle) shutter/mirror noise? I use a 10D (with a variety of Canon and Sigma lenses), and was shooting a chamber music concert whose audience members were quite irked with the noise I was generating...

Any insights would be most appreciated!

Can't help you ...I do shoots of Pipes n Drums playing and street parades and don't irk anybody!

Or you can make your own soundblimp from a lunch box.

Those sound blimps are required equipment for still photographers shooting on movie sets. They aren't a joke, even though they look like it.

Yup - goes back to the early years of movie production.

Mitchell cameras were the top units. Made a lot of machine noise and needed to be silenced or muffled - original device was a light framework of metal with a heavy felt envelope. Someone lost in time stated that they looked like 'Blimps' and the name stuck. Wildlife film guys who still shoot film continue to use them.
