Another First Attempt Milky Way

I love all the Milky Way photos and just had to share this one with you guys.
This is Done in South Africa and took 30 Photos, 30 sec exp, ISO400, 17mm kit lens. Stacked using deep sky stacker.
Canon 550D

Thx! The camera was pointed straight up into space. Here in South Africa the Milky Way is nice and clear right above your head in winter time. Getting foreground would be close to impossible.

Just a thought;
Could you do overhead stack shot, then foreground stack shot, then combine?

Like you, I've done the "straight up" Milky Way , but it's on my list to try a rules 1/3 by combining a few stacked iamges....after all it's only more time for us when most other people are sleeping....

Very good however it's too dark for my liking . You might want to lighten it up . Not sure at the moment but looks like you clipped the BP . I'm at work so can't get to my computer to check it out .

Great photo, excuse my lack of knowledge but did deep sky stacker align all your photos or do you have some kind of tracking mount thing ( sorry ) on your tripod/camera?

You just take your photos and import them into Deep Sky stacker. The program does the rest. It auto allign the images according to stars it identify.

That's a brilliant photo. By the way, would ISO 800 bring out more details, or will there be too much noise?
